RONALD G. “RON” SMITH, MD 61, of Linton, Indiana passed away suddenly at 1:22 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in Greene County General Hospital, Linton, IN.
He was born January 10, 1954 in Terre Haute, IN to Ronald E. Smith and Patricia L. (Wolfe) Smith.
Ron was a dedicated husband, father and faithful servant of the Lord. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Donna (Bonesteel) Smith of Linton, IN whom he married on October 22, 1983; their children, Rachel Smith, Ellen Smith, Aaron Smith and Reuben Smith all of Linton, IN; sister & brother-in-law, Susan Smith Roads & David of Terre Haute, IN; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ron graduated from South Vigo High School, Indiana State University, and Indiana University School of Medicine. A physician for 29 years, he was board certified in family and geriatric medicine and had practiced in Indianapolis and currently in Jasonville, IN. Ron was a member of the American Board of Family Medicine, Terre Haute Reformed Presbyterian Church, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He enjoyed nature, reading and spending time with his family.
Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation was scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor William Roberts officiating.
Interment was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Terre Haute, IN.
