RAY  “BUD”  E.  SPAINHOWER, 82, of Worthington, Indiana passed away at 11:48 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2013 in Sullivan County Community Hospital, Sullivan, IN.

He was born May 5, 1931 in Bloomington, IN to William Earl Spainhower and Edith Clara (Bender) Spainhower.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Inez (Wools) Spainhower of Worthington, IN whom he married on August 26, 1950; daughter & son-in-law, Jackie & Dan Holtsclaw of Worthington, IN; sons & daughter-in-law, Jeff & Linda Spainhower of Bloomfield, IN, Brian Spainhower of Worthington, IN; grandchildren, Melinda & Robert Harber, Alyvea & Camron Beard; great-grandchildren, Shelley & Erik Brody, Kristina Copp, Asher Harber; sister-in-law, Linda Spainhower of Linton, IN; several nieces, nephews & cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alberta Dewitt; brothers, Mearl Spainhower and Harold Spainhower

Ray worked as a welder for Peabody Coal and retired after 38 years of service. Ray was of the Christian faith, was a member of the UMWA and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Graveside Services were 3 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 with Visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Worthington Cemetery, Worthington, IN. Pastor Dan Holtsclaw and Howard Reel officiated.

Interment was at Worthington Cemetery in Worthington, IN.
