SHARON ELAINE VANATTI, 60, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away peacefully at 2:03 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in I.U. Methodist Hospital Yellow Rose Unit in Indianapolis, IN.

She was born September 2, 1951 in Hammond, IN to Morris Vanatti & Darlene (Wisely) Vanatti.

Survivors include her beloved daughter, Amanda Vanatti of Indianapolis, IN; best friend and cherished caregiver, Vickie Rehmel of Jasonville, IN; mother, Darlene Vanatti of Indianapolis, IN; brother, Russell Vanatti of Brazil, IN; sisters, Reta Miers & Kevin King of Indianapolis, IN, Audrey & Bill Bush of Indianapolis, IN; nephews, Shad Vanatti & Stacey Burkitt of Brazil, IN, Matthew Miers & Brandi Shea of Indianapolis, IN, Jonathan Bush of Indianapolis, IN, Benjamin Bush of Indianapolis, IN, Jacob Vanatti of Brazil, IN; nieces, Misty Miers & Antwan Reed of Indianapolis, IN, Chelsea Vanatti of Brazil, IN; several great-nieces & great-nephews; a multitude of treasured friends.

She was preceded in death by her father; nephews, Shane Vanatti, Jirimy Vanatti; great-nephew, Antwan Reed II.

Sharon retired as a registered nurse from Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was a 1970 graduate of Brazil High School. She worked several years at Columbia Records before she had the opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She earned her licensed practical nursing degree from Vincennes University in 19854 She later continued her studies at Lincoln Trail College where she completed her registered nursing degree in 1992. Sharon enjoyed a successful career in nursing working in occupational health, long term care, and home health care. She was heart-broken when her increasing health needs prevented her from continuing to practice nursing. Sharon often had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. She loved spending time with her family and friends, shopping, reading biographies, driving too fast and a good debate. She rarely met a stranger and was sharing her love and affection with others until the end. She will be greatly missed.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled from 5-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. until service time at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Bush officiating.

Interment was at Bee Ridge Cemetery in Brazil, IN.

In lieu of flowers donations were made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to celebrate Sharon’s generous spirit, love of children, and not-so-secret desire to be Santa Claus. Envelopes were available at the funeral home.
