VIRGINIA RUTH (COLLINS) MCCAMMON, 89, of Shelburn, Indiana passed away at 4:25 a.m. Sunday, January 18, 2015 in Sullivan County Community Hospital, Sullivan, IN.

She was born July 8, 1925 in Sullivan County, IN to Floyd Collins and Elsie (Bennett) Collins.

Virginia married Robert G. McCammon July 11, 1941, and he passed away on July 4, 2000.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Janeen Walters & Allen of Shelburn, IN; loving son, James R. McCammon & Pat of Farmersburg, IN; beloved grandchildren, Doug Bice, Dirk McCammon, Mike Bice, Joe McCammon, Michelle May, Dewey Walters, Bobbi Gregan and Niki Wright; several beloved great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews & cousins; and several dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert G. McCammon; daughter, Dawn Coble; sisters, Helen “Tiny” Clark, Maxine Mayfield; brothers, Earl Collins, Dick Collins, Bill Collins and Bruce Collins.

Virginia was a member and club manager at the Stewart Norris Shelburn American Legion Post #197 Auxiliary for over 40 years and also a member of the Sullivan VFW Auxiliary.  She also held other management positions for a total of 40+ years before retiring.  She attended the First Baptist Church in Shelburn. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bingo, and traveling.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Memorial Graveside Services were 10 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Little Flock Cemetery in Shelburn, IN with Chaplain Don Ransford officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations were made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Virginia.
