WENDELL L. COOPRIDER, 89, of Jasonville Indiana passed away at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2020 at his residence.

He was born on December 24, 1930 to the late Chester and Elizabeth (Blanton) Cooprider in Greene County.

Wendell was a 1949 graduate of Clay City High School and went on to graduate from Purdue University in 1953. He met Marilyn Odle at Purdue and they were married on June 14, 1953. Then, in July of 1953 they left for Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army for 2 years. He then began his farming career and raising hogs until he retired. Wendell was a lifelong member of Lincoln Christian Church where he served as both a deacon and an elder.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Marilyn and 3 sons, Mark Cooprider (Lori), Mike Cooprider (Steph) both on the farm, and Steve Cooprider (Jennifer) in Omaha, NE. Grandchildren: Chet Cooprider (Leslie), Courtney Schmidt (Josh), Kara Armes (Scott), Tyler Cooprider (Abbie), Taylor and Olivia Cooprider, Ryan and Abby Kindt. Great-grandchildren: Cailynn, Cole and Cheslee Cooprider, Nellie and Bridget Armes, Mattinglee and Grant Cooprider, Mitchell Schmidt, and Bexton Cooprider. Wendell’s sisters, Mary Ruth Green (Chauncy), and Joan Everwine (Dane). Marilyn’s brother, Morris Odle (Barbara).

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Ilene and Bill Duncan, and brother in law Rex and Jayne Odle.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 12 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2020 with Pastor Cliff Gano officiating.

Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Clay County with military graveside rites.

In Compliance with State and County guidelines during this time, the services and burial for Wendell Cooprider will be private. Thank you for your cooperation.
