WOODROW W. WEST, 85, of Linton, Indiana passed away at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 in his residence.
He was born April 26, 1928 in Jasonville, IN to Orval West and Flossie (Raley) West.
Survivors include his companion, Gertrude Lockhart of Linton; son & daughter-in-law, Robert & Nan West of Jasonville; step-daughter, Wanda & Tom Miller of Jasonville; son-in-law, Tommy G. & Sharon Grodotzke of TX; grandchildren, Dustin & Kindra West, Kyle West & Angela, Heather Grounds, Gary & Darla Miller, Gene & Mary Miller, Amy & Wes Scarborough, Tammy Canada Fish, Jeff & Christy Grodotzke, Danny & Stephanie Grodotzke, Michael G. Grodotzke; several great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Annalee Walls of Linton, Betty West of Linton; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma June West in 1987; step-daughter, Rita Grodotzke; step-son, Cale (Sonny) Griffith Jr.; brothers, infant Marshall J. West, Walter West; great grandson, Wyatt DeJesus; step sisters, Ruby Harmon, Eunice Heicken.
Woodrow had worked as a welder at Peabody-Hawthorne Mine for 25 years, Allison’s Factory in Indianapolis and was an Indianapolis Policeman for 6 years. He was a member of the Summerville Church of Christ and the U.M.W.A. He enjoyed fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, pitching horseshoes and playing golf. He was a WW II Navy Veteran. Woodrow had previously lived in Florida for years.
Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. service time Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating.
Interment was at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, IN with military graveside rites.
