MAXINE ELIZABETH WILKES, 93, of Jasonville, Indiana went to be with the Lord, at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013 in Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Jasonville, IN. She was beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She was born January 31, 1920 in Jasonville, IN to Jasper Strait and Mary (Lambert) Strait.

Maxine married John Robert “John” Wilkes May 17, 1939 and he passed away on October 19, 2004.

Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law, Bobbie & Jere Landis of Jasonville, IN; son & daughter-in- law, Robin & Sara Wilkes of Springfield, OH; grandchildren, Lisa Kennett, Gina & Rick Lovelace, Amy Wilkes & West, Chriss Wilkes & Brittany; great-grandchildren, Josh, Ashlee & Johnny, Parker, Haley, Aryn, Ryen, Logan, Conner; great-great-granddaughter, Brooklynn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Jerry “Brud” Landis; two great-granddaughters; seven brothers; three sisters.

Maxine was a graduate from Jasonville High School. She was a homemaker. She and her husband Bob were Ordained Ministers. They were known as Chief Bob and Princess Maxine and their puppet Horsefeathers. They traveled all over the United States holding Children’s Crusades. She attended the Jasonville Assembly of God Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for several years.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled from 9 a.m. until 12 Noon service time Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were Noon, Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Bush officiating.

Interment was at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
