MARY L. YATES, 82, of Pimento, Indiana passed away at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 in Sullivan County Community Hospital.

She was born December 3, 1930 in Terre Haute, IN to Donald Dean Hoop and Elsie Pearl (Hudson) Hoop.

Survivors include her husband, James Robert “Bob” Yates of Pimento, IN whom she married on August 24, 1949; daughter, Marilyn Susie Lifford of Jasonville, IN; sons & daughters-in-law, Donald E. & Lu Yates of New York, James M. “Jim” & Trudie Yates of Lewis, IN, Kenneth L. Yates of Blackhawk, IN; grandchildren, Andrea & Brad Duncan, Bobbi & Bill Wiscaver, Chris & Lilly Yates, Donna & Shannon Andrews, Jeremy Yates, Billy Yates, Kenny Yates; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Donald Holmes of Columbus, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Eddie McIntyre.

Mary graduated from Gerstmeyer Tech Class of 1948. She was a member of Shiloh Assembly of God Church of Hymera, IN. She was Founder and President of 1930 Pen Pal Club in 1978. Mary had many special friends and relatives. She was a great cook and enjoyed shopping and letter writing. Mary enjoyed company and always opened her house to all, always willing to cook a meal or lend an ear. She enjoyed collecting angels and salt and pepper shakers.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Dick Smith officiating.

Cremation followed the Funeral Services at Mary’s request.
